Bahruz Samadov's case highlighted in academic conference

Political prisoner Bahruz Samadov's case was highlighted during the Italian Association for the Study of Central Asia and the Caucasus (ASIAC) Annual Conference that took place on 15-18 December 2025, at Ca' Foscari University in Venice, Italy.
The ASIAC organizing team expressed solidarity with Azerbaijani scholar Bahruz Samadov, unjustly condemned to 15 years of jail for his research and peace-building activities.
Posters of the unjustly imprisoned scholar Bahruz Samadov were hung around the conference venue, allowing participants to take action for his release.
In the meantime, over 400 scholars from Europe and around the world have signed a petition calling for the release of young Azerbaijani researcher Bahruz Samadov, in a letter originally published on the website of the Political Studies Association - Populism Specialist Group.
